Professor Dr Andrej Kitanovski is Head of the Department of Thermal and Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. His research work includes the improvement and development of new technologies in the fields of refrigeration, heating, heat pumps and district energy. He is actively involved in the development of advanced heat management technologies and collaborates with renowned companies at home and abroad. In Slovenia, he is a member of the Expert Council of the SRIP Smart Buildings and Home with Wood Chain and former President of SATENA. He founded the Research and Development of New Technologies working area at the International Institute of Refrigeration IIR. He is a member of the international associations AHSRAE and ASME and former Director General of the Directorate for Enterprise and Competitiveness at the Ministry of Economy. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the first place Swiss Technology Award and the Zois Award of the Republic of Slovenia.
