Dr Marko Maver began his academic career at the University of Maryland, where he graduated in Environmental Science and Policy. He then went on to complete a Master’s degree in Globalisation and Development and a PhD in International Environmental Law at the University of Sheffield. He is Deputy Director at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, where he is involved in the development and coordination of policies on sustainable resource management and nature conservation, and a City Councillor of the Municipality of Ljubljana.
Previous roles include Assistant Director of the National Laboratory for Health, Environment and Food, Secretary of State for the Environment and Project Manager at Bellona Europa, where he focused on industrial decarbonisation and the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects. His work at Ernst & Young Slovenia included research on climate change adaptation for major infrastructure projects.
