Simon Savšek graduated with honours from the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana in 2009. After completing his Master’s degree in economics at the European University Institute in Florence, he joined the analytical and research department of the Bank of Slovenia as an economist, and at the same time enrolled in the PhD programme in economics at the Faculty of Economics, where he completed his doctorate in 2019. He joined the European Central Bank in 2014 and has been working at the European Investment Bank since November 2017. In 2022, he was appointed Head of the EIB Group Representation in Slovenia. His bibliography includes original scientific contributions in both national and internationally renowned economics journals. His key works examine the impact of institutional rigidities and the impact of financial shocks on the labour market. His research has also contributed to other academic publications, he has participated in numerous national and international conferences and has been a seminar director at the Joint Vienna Institute.
